The Fiestas del Pino in Teror are celebrated around September 7 and 8 in honor of Our Lady of the Pine, patron saint of the island and of the Diocese of the Canary Islands. The program features major events, such as the traditional pilgrimage on the 7th and the procession on the 8th, along with a wide variety of cultural and popular activities, making this celebration one of the most important annual events in Gran Canaria.
One of the most distinctive moments is the walk to Teror, in which thousands of people travel on foot from different parts of the island. Upon arrival, it is common to see many participants dressed in traditional Canarian attire, such as the manto and saya for women and the canotier for men, adding color and authenticity to the event. Once in town, Teror becomes a lively meeting place, offering opportunities to enjoy local cuisine, craft markets, concerts, and activities in the historic streets and squares. Visitors often enjoy a chorizo sandwich and a strawberry Clipper, adding a typical local touch to the festive atmosphere.
This combination of tradition, culture, leisure, and traditional dress gives the Fiestas del Pino a unique character, blending history, fun, and the island's renowned hospitality.
