Caldera de Bandama

The Bandama Caldera is an impressive Natural Monument in Gran Canaria, a large volcanic depression with steep walls formed around 5,000 years ago by a phreatomagmatic eruption next to Pico de Bandama, creating a spectacular landscape with rich flora and fauna and a challenging hiking trail leading into its interior, where archaeological remains and crops can be found.

The Caldera de Bandama is a volcanic crater and natural landmark located in the northeast of Gran Canaria. Visitors can enjoy a scenic walk along the rim, which offers panoramic views of the crater, surrounding landscapes, and the nearby city of Las Palmas. The hike is suitable for families and nature enthusiasts, providing an opportunity to learn about volcanic geology, local flora, and fauna. The trail allows for both leisurely strolls and moderate hiking, making it an ideal outdoor adventure for anyone looking to experience the island's unique volcanic terrain.
